Being a creature of habit, I tend to release some solo bass tunes about once every ten years. The point behind this small project was to remind me how to do it again. During the lockdown I was asked to play bass for lots of online church services so I had to set up my recording gear again and then I had an idea for a three track e.p. of pieces, all in the key of E minor.

Originally, they were just going to be one take improvisations but unsurprisingly I got embroiled in multiple tracks and ridiculous effects patches. So here are the three pieces, I hope you enjoy them, but if you don’t at least they aren’t very long.

The three tracks are titled after different types of prayer from Christian worship services, probably because I’m in the middle of a theology degree and somewhat preoccupied. I like to practice meditation each morning and sometimes use music to help with that.

It’s a pay what you want download so feel free to download it for nothing, I don’t need the money. If you want to pay something for it so that it appears in your bandcamp collection I will donate any monies raised to a local food bank.

All the sounds come from my Status-Graphite S2 Classic six string bass, an e-bow and Apple’s GarageBand software.

One of my favourite albums of the past couple of years. A truly original sound I can't really pigeonhole with other bands. Brilliant musicianship from all, soaring vocals - I think I once heard it described as 'an intoxicating mix'. Short tracks but they pack so much variation into a couple of minutes - lyrical to grunge choppy chords in a few seconds. Brilliant. Chris Shaw
